El Coriazon de las arribes--Spain's Version of the Grand Canyon
This canyon is located northwest of Salamanca. The main access is from the town of Aldeavilla de la Ribera. It is not the easiest place to find and can only be accessed from the south side of the canyon. Trying to access it from the north side let the GPS straight down a narrow mountainous road to a huge fence indicating that the bridge was out. Nice. AlteCocker had to carefully turn around and get the hell out of there. Not fun. AlteCocker returned the correct way to take the boat cruise that runs twice per day. She also had lunch at a restaurant in the main hotel in the town (which sells tickets for the cruise at the desk). The commentary on the cruise is only in Spanish, but it is a beautiful boat ride even understanding little of what was being said. More details can be found here.
