Brisbane Home Exchange 2008
From three delightful weeks on the Sunshine Coast aside from 3 days lost to a hurricane (called a cyclone in Australia, but pretty much the same thing), AlteCocker moved to the big city of Brisbane. While it is not Sydney or Melbourne in tourist attractions, there is still plenty going on and a flourishing cultural center. As usual, AlteCocker had to get used to a new location (and get lost finding it--as per usual). AlteCocker's adventures included sampling Brisbane's cultural delights and driving around to other tourist sites--including the interior rainforest southwest of Brisbane in Lamington National Park and O'Reilly's treetop walk, the Gold Coast and Byron Bay. AlteCocker did not much fancy the Gold Coast--a sort of worse version of Florida with high rise apartments pushed up to the beach and amusements for the kids. She did, however enjoy of a performance of the Australian Outback Spectacular--a sort of Aussie version of the Buffalo Bill Wild West Show at Disney.
