Manhattan September 2021
For AlteCocker Manhattan is nothing super special as she grew up in Stamford, CT, an hour out of Manhattan by train. Having said that, this home exchange was mainly devoted to museums and what shows were available, as Broadway had just opened up post pandemic but the menu of things was not extensive. AlteCocker's exchange apartment was on the West Side at 95th and Riverside on the 1 subway line. This was the first time AlteCocker went to Manhattan and did not get lost on the subway--a big victory. She went all the way to Brooklyn (Brooklyn Museum and Transit Museum and even into the Bronx to visit AlteCocker's sister who lives there. She saw 9 shows, some memorable and some not. Biggest coup: Running into someone in the apartment building who worked "Hamilton." AlteCocker had not planned to see the show due to the price. The house seat was expensive but 1/3 of the going rate.
